Synology BC800Z security camera adds license plate recognition and smart AI

Ana sayfa / News

Synology has released the BC800Z across Europe a new 4K smart security camera designed for business surveillance. With AI tools like license plate recognition, occupancy alerts, and color night vision, it aims to modernize on-site monitoring without sacrificing detail.

Equipped with an 8MP sensor, the BC800Z captures footage in Ultra HD (3,840 x 2,160). HDR support ensures clear imaging across tricky lighting, and a motorized varifocal lens allows zoom adjustments remotely. Thanks to its 1/1.8″ starlight sensor, the camera provides full-color night vision, even in low-light settings.

Smart Bitrate Control reduces bandwidth and storage usage while maintaining visual quality ideal for long-term recordings or multi-camera setups.

GTA 6 clothing may have leaked through GTA Online files

Suspicious files in GTA Online hint that GTA 6 clothing items may have slipped into the current game, fueling fresh speculation.

What sets the Synology BC800Z apart is its built-in AI. These tools operate locally, without relying on cloud processing. One key feature is license plate recognition, which can capture plates from 3 to 10 meters away.

The camera can also track foot traffic, sending alerts when occupancy thresholds are hit. Smoke detection and directional intrusion alerts further expand its role beyond simple surveillance.

Key AI features include:

Footage is easier to review with Instant Search, which speeds up clip navigation. Auto-tracking keeps moving subjects centered in frame, and real-time alerts can be pushed to smartphones using Synology’s companion app.

Users can create detection zones, review stored footage, and manage notifications all remotely. The BC800Z uses Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) for cleaner setup and is certified IP66/IP67 for weather resistance and IK10 for impact durability.

The camera is now available in Europe, priced at €399. Businesses looking to integrate it into Synology’s broader surveillance ecosystem should note that a Surveillance Device License may be required.

With local processing and high-res capture, the Synology BC800Z offers a feature set that rivals more expensive systems without handing off sensitive data to the cloud. It’s a strong step forward for on-site smart security.
